Summer Day Trip Near Tulsa: Pick Your Own Berry Farm!

Raspberry picking is one of my favorite childhood summer memories. Our friends, The Golden’s, had their very own raspberry bushes (which was rare where I grew up), and I vividly remember play dates with their daughter Amy. We’d play in her sandbox, run through the sprinkler in our bathing suits and then pick raspberries. It never seemed to fail that more raspberries went in our tummies than in the basket where we were supposed to put them.

Those were sweet times….

Ahhhh…Vacation. Who doesn’t love a break from the ordinary?

As spring break winds down, many of our friends are coming back from amazing trips all over the country and the world. Our travels weren’t nearly as fancy, but we did find time to get out of the house and explore…

Today, with  a tankful of gas, we’re heading about 45 miles north of Tulsa to Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve. My husband is at the wheel and I’m his trusty co-pilot.

It seems that we’re always in a rush to go somewhere… do something…  be productive.

Today we’re fighting that urge. With no place to be and no destination in mind, we’ve just set out for a leisurely drive.

We took care of our chores on Saturday. We went to church earlier this morning. We know there is some heavy rain in the forecast for the week ahead. We’re well fed, well watered, and well—

It’s been months since we’ve had a really good soaking rain in Tulsa. Sure, this January’s sunshine and mild weather is welcome by many especially when you compare it to last year’s record winter, but I think we all agree that a little rain is a good thing.
